ذكرت جمعية العمل الجماعي حول الملح والصحة أو ما يعرف اختصارا بـكاش

"Cash Consensus Action on Salt & Health"

أن وجبة واحدة من "بيتزا هت" تحتوي 4 أضعاف الكمية المسموح أن يتناولها طفل في السادسة

 خلال اليوم كله. بينما تزداد النسبة في وجبة من محلات "كنتكي فرايد تشيكن" وتنقص في "الوجبة السعيدة" من محلات "ماكدونالدز".


وكانت جميع محلات الوجبات الجاهزة قد أعلنت أنها قد خفضت كميات الملح بشكل كبير في منتجاتها في السنوات القليلة الماضية.

وتحدد الحكومة البريطانية أقصى كمية للملح المسموح بتناوله بستة غرامات يوميا للفرد من البالغين، وخمسة غرامات للأطفال الذين تتراوح أعمارهم ما بين سن السابعة والعاشرة، وثلاثة غرامات للأطفال الذين تتراوح أعمارهم ما بين سن الرابعة والسادسة من العمر.
وكمية الملح التي تستهلك في وجبة واحدة تتجاوز ضعفي الحد المسموح به للفرد من الكبار وأربعة أضعاف المسموح به للطفل في السادسة من العمر.
ودعت "كاش" جميع المطاعم إلى توفير معلومات حول المواد الغذائية حتى يختار الناس ما يتناولونه عن علم بمحتويات تلك الوجبات.
وتساءلت: "كيف يمكن لهذه الشركات أن تبرر بيع وجبة غذائية تتجاوز فيها كمية الملح المسموح بها للبالغين أو الأطفال على مدى اليوم كله؟"
