I think it starts by processes from state (government)
We have many institutions that affect society and societal norms.. the change I am aiming at is very big and it needs a very long time till "arabs" adjust to it, but nothing starts perfect, and even if it goes slowly at least it needs to be going forward.. I will first just put some small spot light over the situation, then later on go in on results or my opinion of how to solve this. Also I would love comments from you all.. specially if you think I am wrong in something mentioned below, lemmie know. the more opinions the merrier
Unfortunately and here i am very critical, the move in the arabic world is going backwards and not forward. Especially when it is about woman rights. Yes I do admit that some countries such as Kuwait, Jordan.. etc have started processes for woman rights.. Morocco has been first in admitting women organizations and spot lighting their situation. Tunisia and Algeria is ongoing process between islamists demands on women and the "western" feminist demands on women. Well here we have to see the truth! We allow women discrimination in all its kinds (elite discrimination, indirect discrimination, direct discrimination, cultural discrimination etc). And we wonder why women submit to this? simply because of the blindfold society we have: scenario to make my opinion clearer comes below
1. woman brings shame to the family if she goes against the traditions/culture that is common in society, this is why woman need to follow it even if it in many times harms her.
2. woman have no rights other than what the man gives her, even though in islam woman have many rights but "3aib" to demand them, because woman should be shy and always satisfied to what is given to her.
3. woman should not aim for high posts in government, organizations, etc. YES we have women reaching those posts, but the truth is that most men riddicule women and the overall image is that women are dumb, foolish and ruled by their emotions.
4. woman is suitable to raise children, be at home, take care of the home "working", because this is simply her job. Man says: this is not my job! and YES since society is changing, world economy is changing man demands woman to work because family needs more than just the man working, so here we have: woman working, woman being a mother, woman taking care of home, woman taking care of her husband, etc.. HELLO? ARE WE DEMANDING A SUPERWOMAN? and guess what, she's always not enough!
I'm sorry ppl I wont get to long in this, I already bla bla alot, but there are so many more scenarios and I can mention them if I had more time to put on this. And important to say here is that most of these scenarios are double folded. i.e. woman face this, but at the same time society force the thought that: THIS IS HOW A GOOD WOMAN SHOULD BE! she needs to do all this, if she complains about her situation she is just unthankful?
excuse me.. is this just a defence mechanism the arabic man use? discriminate woman because arabic women are so great? so arabic men is nothing compared to them?
not leaving a chance for arabic woman to develop herself because they have an inner fear that if she does she might aswell get many steps ahead of them? etc etc..
No, I am not a feminist *in case you wonder*
No, I do not hate man (especially not arabic men hehe)
and here I might have written something with some kind of exaggerating or bad using of words (offensive) and this is only to provoke opinions to further get on this subject. I am open for any critics, let them rain
thx Hey! nice subjectzZzZ ... waitinnnn
