Islam gave me all my rights and more.. and I'm quite good in knowing them and stopping those "thinking" they know about them..while they don't know anything!
well.. other girls.. that are running behind "western" women rights those i dont care much about, cause they keep running behind a made holy man picture that they made ideal and wanna reach to it..too bad still the fight in most european countries in the feminist front is about "woman having as much paid as men in labour market" hehe  
you see.. yes i can agree that women are discriminated in arabic world (because of traditions and culture notice and not because of islam)
but hey.. I'm happy being a WOMAN i dont wanna run behind a "man ideal" my ideal is no1! I'm a woman and that is enough to be great
umm.. i guess i'll be discussing woman rights if any subject is taken up.. specially if tradition patterns and discrimination
otherwise.. naa im just fine the way I am

but i really think u should reconcider that thought , about islam not having anything to do with the way women r discriminated .
in the arab world and islamic world .statisticaly , it cant be unrelated , coz all them countries has alot of discremenation, it has to relate. But in what maner that is, thats the question .
 See clercks men argue that islam gives them women all rights and more than any other relegion . Who cares !!! If wherever islam domenates woman r discreminated against, who cares .
 I just would love  some one to set that right example that everyone talks about ... or just confess muslims r not islam then . thats generaly speaking .. so lets drop the excuses, or start all over or god knows whats best to do .

Yep Plain.. i agree *as i said earlier* that there are evident discrimination against women in the arabic countries.. but i do not agree that it is islam. Muslims are different to islam (and yes i think you said that too   ) But here the question about muslim clerks men is: are they following traditions or pure islam? all in all they will somehow get affected AND affect the society by traditions.. and also by their perceived thoughts of "rights".. but when i say islam i simply mean the NATURAL right God gave me, which i dont accept no man to take from me. Even if he is sheikh i dont know who
notice here each individual got a brain, you either choose to stop your brain from thinking/planning/evaluating/deciding and follow the "flow" of masses and traditions and "clerks men".. or you listen to all of them.. and decide yourself according to what is right and wrong.

Here discrimination in the Arabic world is important.. n i dont think it got only to do with "cleriks men saying islam gave rights to women" btw most of those are the first to rob women their rights in the name of "islam" and in the interest of themselves and traditions. Women in arabic world are pathetic (sorry and no offense meant), because they either think they are free in the terms of being "westernized" and free, or they think they are robbed all their rights and shut up and be "a typical arabic woman" (notice this is also generalization)
so here comes all the movements in between, if men in arabic world cant stop think they own the world and decide (authoritavly) on everything, then maybe they would give woman a chance to come out and share the decisions table

*things differ between countries in arabic world when it comes to women* but still this is generally applicable in all in all

I still have lots to say    enough here cause i really dont mean to bore you out!

well now i do have a question, that could be a bit irrelevant,
u  say , and i said in a way , that muslims r difrent from islam.
what is a relegion other than what people practice it as?( dont mean to attack islam , but really this got me wondering ), social speaking that was.   just that noone starts raining me with verces and so .

well have a some bad news for u ... heaven is harder to acheive than that   and not saying its their fault though . still its the way the society had taught them to be.

I think that it is learned (women roles, being obdient etc etc)
and yes it bugs me, but I dont face that same situation since I always get to bug them back, maybe cause I'm "rude" sometimes and can't accept be discriminated. But many women do not say a thing. And who's fault is this? womans? partly yes, but the major part is because of society! Society is ruled by man. alright we get the point. NO i am not accusing men
I am saying, men developed by time a great difference between his demands and ignored woman demands. And men developed by time a large space of "unknowledge" between him and woman. Today men do not understand women, escpecially in the arabic world. and this is because of this large space between the two genders.
By openminded/freedom I do not mean "no limits" or "iba7iya" or "in7ilal" I simply mean RESPONSIBILITY.  
I think that if man change his opinion about woman, stops thinking of her a sex symbol, stops thinking she is silly/not responsible enough, stops to limiting her from developing, and evaluating her thoughts/opinions as useful in society. Then our societal norms will change dramatically...
notice that a small start is never enough but it is still an enormous change from the existing norms and a good push forward towards a better healthier developed and effective society :wink:
